Apache OFBiz - Getting started
The best way to get started is fetching and building OFBiz from sources, deploy and run tests.
- Initial setup: Follow the Quick & Easy Setup section of Demo and Test Setup Guide. The setup can be done either windows or linux machines. For svn client, consider using Tortoise SVN on windows and svn client on Linux that is available as a downloadable package with package managers on most linux systems. One can also follow the Apache OFBiz Technical Production Setup Guide for an overview of how data is loaded for a business setup besides the various configurations that exist within the system.
- Functionality Overview: OFBiz application modules cover a range of functionality out of the box including accounting, party management, order management, inventory management, product catalog, facilities management, ecommerce and more. A high level understanding of these features and their interlinking would be essential for framework isolation. Follow the Apache OFBiz Business Setup Guide to get an overview of the functionality. The demo seed data that comes with the source code can be a good starting point. Feel free to play around and modify them as they can reset with a simple ant clean-all command.
- Running tests: TBD
All of these are nicely captured under OFBiz documentation available at http://docs.ofbiz.org/display/OFBADMIN/Apache+OFBiz+Getting+Started . Follow the links on the page in the order they are mentioned.
