Require a messaging facility amongst members
| Project: | Kenfuse portal |
| Component: | User interface |
| Category: | feature request |
| Priority: | normal |
| Assigned: | Unassigned |
| Status: | active |
Uses/Members should have an easy way to contact without revealing their email address etc. To prevent abuse and spam perhaps there should a limit to how many such messages can be posted in a day. Perhaps the limit can be varied based on the user roles. For example project admins may have more than regular members.
One option could be using some existing Drupal modules. Another can be through OpenSocial. Whichever is quickest and easiest should work.

By arpitaThere is a feedback message from one of the users which says
Hey heres an idea how about a Im server. Might be a good idea for mentors to talk to other mentors and students. Oh maybe even a pastebin. (Openfire IM server opensource) Thanks rikki.
So, looks an instant messaging with offline capability would be useful as well.

By francesco-lellimost of the OpenSource facility (such as SF) already use mail-list and forums... why you can use that? As second possibility you may want to consider a mesh-up between facebook or linkedin.

By sandyI think we would do something similar to SF.net i.e put a simple contact me box. Also like the suggestion of facebook or linkedin kind of integration. In fact the site already has google friend connect on the home page that can be used to invite friends from sites that support OpenID. Contacting and comment is an option that can be turned on easily, but then right now they are not linked to the user registred - pending authentication. However, authentication part is not yet proven but moment that is worked out, plan to include that as an option to login to the site. Thoughts?
