OpenID and Ofbiz

The wikipedia article on OpenID reads as follows.

"OpenID is an open, decentralized standard for user authentication and access control, allowing users to log on to different services with the same digital identity. OpenID replaces the common login process that uses a login-name and a password, by allowing a user to log in once and gain access to the resources of multiple software systems."
"OpenID authentication is used and provided by several large websites. Organizations like AOL, BBC, Google, IBM, Microsoft,MySpace, Orange, PayPal, VeriSign, Yandex, Ustream and Yahoo! act as providers......"

Ofbiz can be viewed as a collection of related web applications, each of which can be used to perform ERP operations. As of now, Ofbiz provides its own authentication and access control mechanism, with an admin user who has all privileges and a regular user who can perform in various roles. An OpenID integration would mean that a user who wants to authenticate oneself, can do so using one's OpenID, without having to register oneself at the site. All that would be required would be to associate one's OpenID with Ofbiz, and from then on use the OpenID URL + password to log in to Ofbiz. An OpenID provider also gives the user the option of sharing all the user's information with the requesting entity, thus saving the trouble of keying in all those details again.

Where would this be useful?
1. A shopper at an Ofbiz enabled e-commerce site could now use his OpenID to shop.
2. Or a visitor at a content site powered by Ofbiz' CMS could create blogs, make forum posts, comments using his OpenID.
